The service was minimal at best which was fine because not much was needed anyway. The concept was creative, but other elements such as the parking, location, overcrowding, and price were kind of prohibitive to me. larger portions and more alcohol), this may be a one-and-done for me. However, unless the story changes from year-to-year and the drinks were better (i.e. House Of Spirits was a very fun event and an enjoyable evening spent with friends. However, I noticed several people in more casual threads - dammit! There were no TVs while various types of sensory attraction kept you occupied. The best way to describe things was a haunted house maze as you explored at times shoulder-to-shoulder with only two rooms I recalled that actually had seats (the lounge and stage). Located in the former The Odd Fellows Masonic Temple an eclectic landmark built in 1926 designed by master architects Morgan, Walls & Morgan and was currently re-established as Casa Vertigo, this historic site with its elaborate charm of the Beaux Arts and Spanish Revival architecture and a mixture updated modern spaces was stunning even with the cover-up of blocking, dim lighting, draping, and the heavy decorations. Another option would be a rideshare service while I didn't notice any nearby public transportation. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Washington Blvd. I was lucky enough to grab a spot in a designated cordoned off "lot" underneath the Santa Monica 10 Freeway right outside the event facility. PARKING (Varied $5.00 CASH this instance) Generally-speaking, everything was fine and ran smoothly. The lines for each cocktail bar went quickly (most drinks were pre-made) /user_local_phot…, and I noticed little to no security except for outside. Once inside the facility, some of the initial directions could've been better while there were sufficient marked signs throughout the venue which strategically led you from one room to the next. The parking attendant was awesome and hooked me up! Outside the event, the initial security checkpoint was easy. The online purchase through the Fever app was a breeze. In addition, we took in a stage show /user_local_phot…, listened to live music /user_local_phot…, watched various acts /user_local_phot…, communicated and integrated with various "spirits" /user_local_phot…, asked the Giant Ouija Board questions, and much more! Loosely based on the famous haunting of Loftus Hall in Ireland, the eerie affairs waiting inside Vaughan Hall were to thrill and terrify everyone. The goal was to unravel the sinister truth behind the demise of the Vaughan clan if you dared. In the lounge, we were able to purchase food and beverages while we waited for our show. Before our designated showtime, we relaxed inside the pre-show lounge which opened-up 45 minutes earlier. Was this shindig worth the wait!?ĥ Mini Cocktails Plus Ticket + Booking Fees ($96.00 + $14.30): The middle of three ticketing options /user_local_phot…, you were given a two-hour window to freely roam the mysterious haunted mansion "Vaughan Hall'' which was the setting for a dark legend where the truth behind it was far more disturbing as you collected and savored a craft cocktail outside five separate storytelling rooms. This was a traveling immersive theatrical soiree where adults (21+ only) did Halloween (costumes were highly recommended) in a haunted mansion (or a similar representation in this case at events space Casa Vertigo) who enjoyed miniature craft cocktails and a thrilling time of macabre magic, tarot, roaming specters, secret games, and much more. I've heard about the annual Halloween-themed event House Of Spirits over the past several years, but with COVID pandemic lockdown from 2020-2021, I finally had the recent opportunity to attend along with a handful of adventurous friends. (Attended 10/22/22 SA 6:45pm-8:45pm): A frightful evening roaming a house filled with libatious spirits!
